"THE SIXTIES"
Some
people called the 60's the "decade of discontent" because of the demonstrations against the war and the race riots in Detroit,
Los Angeles, and other cities. Others called it the decade of "peace, love, and harmony" because of the peace
movement and the emergence of the "flower children." To some, it was acid trips and mind expansion: "Far out, man." Some of you may remember Woodstock Music & Art Fair, an Aquarian Exposition, which took place in
White Lake, N.Y. A 3 day event of peace, music and other things I would not mention, on August 15, 16, 17 of 1969. For me, it was
the time of my birth. Yes, the year was 1965, the
best year of the 60’s, especially if you grew up in Trinidad and Tobago...What?...you have a problem with what I said...we
can take it outside…Oh, I forgot, it’s all about peace and love.

60’s Quotes:
For God so loved the world that he
gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
"I have a dream that my four little children
will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by their character." Martin Luther King voicing his dream for racial harmony on 28 August 1963
The Racist Dog Policemen Must Withdraw Immediately From Our
Communities, Cease Their Wanton Murder and Brutality and Torture of Black People, or Face the Wrath of the Armed People. Huey
P. Newton, Minister of Defense, Black Panther Party, P.O Box 8641, Emeryville, California. 1968
"Mrs Robinson, you're trying to seduce me... aren't
you?" Young college graduate Benjamin (Dustin Hoffman) to middle-aged Mrs Robinson (Anne Bancroft) in what
became one of the most famous seduction scenes in film history, The Graduate (1967)
Everything’s the opposite. But I sincerely
believe in love and peace. I am a violent man who has learned not to be violent and regrets his violence. I will have to be
a lot older before I can face in public how I treated women as a youngster. - John Lennon
"I knew I was a
winner back in the late sixties. I knew I was destined for great things. People will say that kind of thinking is totally
immodest. I agree. Modesty is not a word that applies to me in any way - I hope it never will." - Arnold
Schwarzenegger
